BACKLASH
A girl cycling along a peaceful cliffside suddenly breaks down into a scream that transforms the world around her into a surreal, unstable nightmare trying to consume her. After crashing through a portal opened by her emotional collapse, she is replaced by an emotionless doppelgänger with a forced smile.
Backlash explores how ignored emotions build up over time, and how suppressing them can eventually lead people to lose themselves completely.

This short film was my first fully produced animation project. I created it during my exchange year at Vancouver Film School in 2024–2025 with a Most Improved Student Award.
Working on this film, meeting incredible artists in my class, and spending countless days and nights together to finish our projects was one of the best experiences of my life.

Through making this film, I learned how I handle challenges, how I adapt when things go wrong, and how to keep creating even when I’m exhausted. Beyond improving my technical and artistic skills, this process showed me the kind of artist and person I want to become.
